in my imo opinion it will forever be this way if gamers can force any kind of competitiveness into the game, even if it wasn't intended. you need to remove any kind of way to do anything that can be compared to another or at the very least make doing it different ways not matter. the way you would need to make an mmo game in #currentyear would be to limit as much as you possibly could from the traditional mmorpg structure . remove as much as you possibly could that can be memorized by gamers
