Untangling Ourselves is interviews with people who have changed their lives and their communities without coercion. People who've found inspiration without shame.

Season 1 includes episodes about #kpop fandom, ASL interpreting, #mutualaid , #CultDeprogramming, #CommunityChoirs , and #unschooling community building. Some possibilities for Season 2 include trauma-informed dog training, social justice and real estate, donor conceived people's rights, fawning, and neurodiversity-affirming nutrition.

In so many groups and sub-cultures (work cultures, parenting, academics, community organizations, etc) we default to control. It seems to a be a necessary means to an end.

But as people organize against fascism we hear again and again that we need to build the world we want to see: a world where we don't use "power over" to force compliance.

So most recently I interviewed Lee Hoffman, a choir director who manages to lead large groups in practice, performance, and protest without shaming or policing.

In episode 1:2 I interviewed Delia Tetelman about how her experience joining and then deprogramming from a cult in the 80s helps her see and the methods of social coercion in everyday debates and in communities.
