Main question I get at work is, what game is best for 2? Well, it depends, for me, #7Wonders Duel or #Splendor Duel, but wife & I are divided on which is better. #Photograph is a trick-taking title that we currently enjoy too. #Crokinole & #Backgammon are another staple, & a #52card deck. &, shameless plug, my game #Crowns will be entering the national #gamedesign contest next month, recommended by one of the largest #boardgame stores, & I already have a publisher waiting for design and print :D

I've been sick for two days straight but took the opportunity to work on #lumae, which will probably be called #freightline now. I haven't had time to test it of course, but the added mechanics brings the game from a chess-like abstract into the realm of modern games. which, i should point out kinda breaks my goal. I want to make timeless #boardgamedesigns using basic assets and with rules you learn in less than a minute like my game #Crowns, or something like #Chess. But maybe that's okay...

went to another #boardgamedesign meeup. mostly new faces.
had two testers for #crowns, one who sold 1500 copies of his own game #bauer and is waiting for his restock of another 3000 copies!
both players thought the game was good but said I need to make actual graphics for cards 11, 12, 13, and 14.
they all suggested i do 2 art versions. one that appeals to #chess players (keep current art), and one for mainstream audiences.
also, the game looks great on a white table! 😁

For anyone interested, the pre-alpha of digital #Crowns is now playable! With both multiplayer matchmaking and playing vs CPU. Much easier to try and learn the mechanics that way!
Note: It's experiencing several updates a day (and bugs) while we're adding new functions and features, so sometimes it might not work for a few minutes or an hour or so.

Changing name of my game from #Crowns to #TinnyWar - changing the color theme from red/black to white/black. Changing the style to minimalist. Added suits back to the cards.
It will now come in a tin mint box instead of a tuck box. Hence the Tinny.
Rules were updated a few days ago changing Ace to be almost like it was but with a slight but powerful modification.

i'm trying to make some #asciiart for my #cardgame #crowns. a bit rusty but... since i can't decide on what #art i should use it's the one artform i can consistently keep decent.
this piece isn't finished because i ended up making it way waaaayy too wide by the time i realized it won't fit on the cards.
...but i also don't want to just trash it.

I went to my #LGS to show off #crowns and the verdict was (paraphrasing): "we get a lot of people coming in to demo their games and we rarely see so much potential. it also helps that its a 1on1 game which is a niche with a lot of room left to fill, and the box is so small it fits casual play, and the rules so simple yet carrying enough layers and depth that we could recommend it to just about anyone."

I spent way too much time rewriting and updating the rules for my #cardgame #crowns. Maybe I didn't need to rewrite them entirely since it seems most people understood them anyway, but I added two optional rules in preparation for the custom cards version I'm working on and made a minor change to the King.
