  1. Oh dear, I just bought a new very basic Dell wired keyboard, and it came with a fscking Copilot key! When even the cheapest most basic tech goes AI we really are doomed.
    #AI #keyboards #copilotkey

  2. Chat what should I bind the #CopilotKey aka `XF86Assistant` aka `Super+Shift+F23` aka `Super+Shift+XF86TouchpadOff` (lol) to?
Maybe something ridiculous? Or another Super key? Hyper? `espeak-ng -v Swedish "Blåhaj"`?
Make it fun, make it useful, your choice.

  3. @kkarhan @Ninji

Every device advertised with "#AI" od having a "#CopilotKey" gets instantly put on the "never ever buy!"-List…

You know what I want instead?

    #Linux support - and I mean fully!
    #Keyboards with
    #Trackpoints!
    #RepairableTech
    instead of AntiRepairDesign!

    Me too
Which is why I have a second hand business think pad, I5 processor 8GB Ram, antiX linux great performance.

    And tough.

  4. Soon you’ll be able to remap the Copilot key on Windows PCs

When Microsoft announced that most new keyboards for Windows PCs would feature a dedicated Copilot key, a lot of people remained unconvinced that it was a good idea to add a key for a single feature that many folks don’t plan on using.

Now Microsoft has announced that it’s begun rolling out an update to Windows Insiders that makes it possible to remap the Copilot key so that it can be used […]

  5. Not entirely opposed to the proposed Copilot key, but if it's not reprogrammable then it needs to be possible to disable it. I don't want to go to the effort of disabling Copilot, only to have the genie pop up again every time I fat-finger the bottle-cap.

  6. Linux has had the Copilot key for years.

It’s because we have the ability to to remap anything to anything, including my Super key to Copilot, should I choose.

Perhaps Microsoft should have just added key remapping? 🤔

  8. I dunno. My initial reaction to the is... so what's its scan code?

I get it, unwanted advertising, imposition and extension of software bloat onto the keyboard, but... new key!

It's not the extra dozen function keys that I want (and moved to the left side of the keyboard, WHERE THEY BELONG) but it's a new key, so let's adapt it for our own use.

  9. @metacurity What a waste of resources and I hope everyone will refuse to follow that "recommendation" because it's valie removing!

Nobody wants or needs a #CopilotKey and #Microsoft fuckibg around woth peoples' muscle memory will drive them away from their bloated #Govware that is #Windows / #Wondows11 and to good #Linix distros or heck even #macOS!
