  1. @CelloMomOnCars @Streetsweeper @breadandcircuses fully agree, the technology to convert waste to useful materials exists (P&G aka Procter and Gamble got started on fat from the pig slaughter houses in Cincinnati). The question is if there is enough waste to meet the demand, while leaving enough natural areas to support the regional biodiversity. (If we are talking about adding biofuel for air travel and ocean freight, pretty sure the answer is "No".)

    And a big part of the equation is our rate of consumption. The work on Planetary Boundaries ( stockholmresilience.org/resear) and Doughnut Economics (kateraworth.com/doughnut/) do a nice job of framing the questions we need to ask and problems we need to be prepared to solve.
