  7. "Science for Policy" - This is what the Joint Research Centre does for the European Commission.

    This department informs the policymaking process at all stages, making sure that politicians can access the knowledge and the science before drafting legislation.

    I've had the luck of being part of this (at the time working on modelling the spread of respiratory diseases).
