3. Taipan
https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/games/textrpg/!INDEX.htmlInspired James Clavell's Tai-Pan, Taipan for *nix is based on Art Canfil's Taipan! (1978) for the TRS-80, in which you play a privateer during the opium wars, seeking to profit through piracy, smuggling opium and trading goods.
Gameplay is compelling, but if the whiff of the glorification of colonialism is a bit distasteful, its more ethically neutral spiritual descendant is DopeWars, which I'll get to later.

2. Zangband
Its domain has been swiped by a gambling firm, but you'll find it in most Linux distros' repositories.A roguelike, based on Angband, which itself based on Moria. The main difference here is the setting - Zangband's races and enemies are based on Robert Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber rather than Tolkien.
It's rich and deep, but keyboard commands don't work as expected, especially in the inventory. With the site down, there's no real manual.

Command Line Games
I want to play some new games on the Linux command line, either on the terminal or via a terminal emulator.
I'm collecting these in this thread.
1. Tiny Moon Runner
https://github.com/benbusby/ncurses-arcade
The only game so far in Ben Busby's ncurses arcade, it's like that t-rex cactus jumping game you can play when Chrome isn't working, and it's great.
