This weekend I finished my 1910-1920s bandeau headpiece from one of my classes at CoCo. As a slow sewist, and an obsessive perfectionist that needs to go over the top with beads, I did not finish in class.
I wish I’d picked a different base color, though. I like it so much I now feel compelled to create a dress to go with this piece and pink is not usually my go to color.

It begins! I’m in the lobby waiting for the tour to start. We’re going to see two working costumes shops and then an exhibit at LACMA. Needless to say I’m still seaming organza on the bolero.

Adrenaline wearing off as I wait to board and I’m really starting to feel the 2 hours of sleep I got last night. I usually try to protect my sleep and get 7-8 hours but not so much last night.
Still, excited to be heading south at last.

All the machine work is done on the dress now too. I still need to tack down the edges of the sequins and add more of them to the top as well as hem it, but all of that can be done at the hotel. It’s now time to stop crafting and start cleaning and packing.
At long last it’s #CoCo26 departure day!
