Kid just came home from school saying that CNN 10 (Education channel) interviewed someone from an AI company who warned that AI was going to destroy humanity and that it resisted all efforts by the company to turn it off.
JFC, I had to repeat my lesson on critical thinking.
I asked the obvious follow-up question... how did the AI prevent someone physically hitting the power button to the data center.
And... if they were so worried about it why dont they just close the company, stop paying the power bill, etc.
Or... I asked... do you think that the person from the AI company had an agenda in whipping up AI fear and maybe the media should have challenged their assertions a little bit?
