Das CloudFest gehört zu den wichtigsten Events der Hosting- und Cloud-Branche. Jedes Jahr trifft sich hier ein großer Teil der internationalen Szene, von Infrastruktur-Anbietern über Software-Hersteller bis hin zu Hosting-Providern. Das CloudFest 2026 stand offiziell unter einem klaren Motto:
„The Sustainability of Everything“
In der Praxis dominierte jedoch ein anderes Thema: Künstliche Intelligenz (AI).
Zwischen Keynotes, Panels und Gesprächen wurde schnell deutlich:
AI ist nicht nur ein Trend, sondern das zentrale Thema der Branche und überlagert dabei viele andere Diskussionen.Das CloudFest 2026 zeigt deutlich, wie stark AI die Hosting-Branche verändert – und wo aktuelle Grenzen liegen.
Auch wir waren vor Ort. Bewusst nicht als Aussteller, sondern als Beobachter.
Unser Ziel war klar: zuhören, einordnen und bewerten, welche Entwicklungen tatsächlich Einfluss auf den Betrieb von Hosting- und Cloud-Infrastrukturen haben und welche vor allem gut klingen. Denn genau hier entsteht die entscheidende Frage:
Was davon kommt im realen Betrieb an? Und was bleibt Buzzword?
Das ist passiert: Die wichtigsten Trends auf dem CloudFest 2026
Ein Blick auf Agenda und Gespräche vor Ort zeigt schnell, welche Themen die Hosting-Branche aktuell prägen:
- Künstliche Intelligenz (AI) ist allgegenwärtig
- Nachhaltigkeit und Energieeffizienz im Rechenzentrum
- Data Sovereignty und europäische Cloud-Infrastrukturen
- Automatisierung und Plattform-Ansätze
- Security und Resilience
Oder anders gesagt: AI ist das zentrale Thema. Und alles, was dafür notwendig ist.
Eindrücke vom CloudFest 2026AI als Infrastruktur-Thema im Hosting
Auffällig ist: Der Fokus liegt weniger auf Anwendungen, sondern klar auf Infrastruktur. GPUs werden zur zentralen Ressource, ergänzt durch spezialisierte AI-Systeme und neue Plattformmodelle für AI-Workloads.
Was dabei oft fehlt, ist die Differenzierung: AI als Anwendung entwickelt sich schnell. AI als Infrastruktur stellt ganz andere Anforderungen, sowohl technisch als auch wirtschaftlich.
GPU-Infrastruktur: technisch möglich, wirtschaftlich schwierig
GPU-basierte Infrastruktur war eines der dominierenden Themen auf dem CloudFest. Dabei geht es längst nicht mehr um einzelne Server, sondern um komplette Systeme:
- Hochgeschwindigkeitsnetzwerke
- spezialisierte Storage-Lösungen
- stabile Stromversorgung und Kühlkonzepte
Gleichzeitig zeigt sich ein recht klares Bild: Preise sind schwer kalkulierbar, Angebote wenig standardisiert und viele Lösungen noch nicht betrieblich ausgereift.
Oder direkter gesagt: AI-Infrastruktur ist aktuell vor allem eines. Sie ist teuer und oft noch nicht wirklich markttauglich.
Rechenzentrum, Kühlung und Energie
Neue Kühlkonzepte wie Liquid Cooling waren ein häufig diskutiertes Thema, insbesondere bei hoher Leistungsdichte in modernen Rechenzentren. Unsere Beobachtung: Kühlung spielt eine Rolle, entscheidend ist jedoch häufig die Stromverfügbarkeit. Gleichzeitig wird bestehende Infrastruktur oft unterschätzt.
Nicht jedes Setup muss sofort neu gedacht werden. In vielen Fällen geht es eher darum, bestehende Systeme effizient zu betreiben.
Nachhaltigkeit im Rechenzentrum: Anspruch und Realität
Das Motto „The Sustainability of Everything“ war auf dem CloudFest omnipräsent. Gleichzeitig entsteht ein klares Spannungsfeld:
AI-Workloads treiben den Energiebedarf massiv nach oben, während Nachhaltigkeit als zentrales Ziel formuliert wird. Die entscheidende Frage lautet daher:
Wie realistisch ist nachhaltiger Betrieb im Hosting unter steigender Last?
Aktuell fehlt es oft an klaren Standards, echter Vergleichbarkeit zwischen Anbietern und belastbaren, messbaren Konzepten.
Security im Hosting: steigende Anforderungen
Security bleibt eines der wichtigsten Themen im Hosting und Cloud-Betrieb. Angriffe werden automatisierter, Schwachstellen schneller ausgenutzt und AI wird zunehmend auch auf Angreiferseite eingesetzt.
Zusätzlich steigt der regulatorische Druck, etwa durch Vorgaben wie NIS2. Security ist damit nicht nur ein technisches Thema, sondern auch eine Frage von Prozessen, Organisation und Verantwortung.
Neue Anbieter im AI-Hosting: viel Bewegung, wenig Reife
Viele Anbieter präsentieren neue Plattformen für AI-Infrastruktur und GPU-Services. Unser Eindruck: hohe Dynamik im Markt, viele ähnliche Angebote und stark unterschiedliche Reifegrade.
Nicht jede Lösung, die auf dem Papier überzeugend wirkt, ist im täglichen Betrieb stabil und wirtschaftlich sinnvoll.
Unsere Einordnung: Was im Hosting wirklich zählt
Bei all den Entwicklungen fällt eines deutlich auf: Die Realität des täglichen Betriebs wird selten thematisiert. Was im Alltag entscheidend ist:
- Monitoring von Systemen
- Incident Handling
- Patch-Management
- langfristige Stabilität von Plattformen
Genau hier zeigt sich die Qualität eines Hosting-Anbieters. Viele der präsentierten Trends abstrahieren stark von dieser operativen Realität. Hier liegt auch unsere Stärke.
Unsere Strategie: Umgang mit AI im Hosting
Für uns ergibt sich daraus kein radikaler Kurswechsel, sondern eine klare und pragmatische Strategie. Wir betrachten AI aktuell in drei Bereichen:
1. AI im eigenen Betrieb
Hier setzen wir bereits konkret an. Beispiele:
- automatische Ticket-Klassifikation
- Priorisierung von Anfragen
- Unterstützung im Support-Alltag
Ziel ist es, operative Prozesse effizienter zu machen und Teams gezielt zu entlasten.
2. AI für Kunden: Nutzung bestehender Systeme
Im Kundenumfeld liegt der Fokus auf der Nutzung bestehender AI-Modelle, also der Anwendung fertiger Systeme, sowie deren Integration in bestehende Tools und Hosting-Umgebungen.
Der Aufbau eigener Trainingsinfrastruktur steht aktuell bewusst nicht im Fokus. Der technische und wirtschaftliche Aufwand ist hoch, während der konkrete Nutzen in vielen Fällen noch begrenzt is
3. GPU-Hosting: aktuell kein Standardangebot
GPU-Infrastruktur im Hosting ist derzeit mit hohen Hürden verbunden:
- hohe Investitionskosten
- begrenzte Verfügbarkeit von Hardware
- schwer planbare Nachfrage
Viele Angebote wirken aktuell noch wie frühe Marktphasen. Unsere klare Einschätzung: GPU-Hosting ist derzeit kein stabiles Standardprodukt für viele Hosting-Anbieter.
Lokale AI-Modelle und Edge-Hosting
EinEin interessanter Trend ist die Entwicklung kleinerer, lokal betreibbarer Modelle. In vielen Fällen reichen bereits einzelne GPUs und überschaubare Hardware.
Das ermöglicht lokale Verarbeitung, mehr Datensouveränität und eine geringere Abhängigkeit von großen Cloud-Anbietern. Hier sehen wir langfristig großes Potenzial.
Was wir konkret umsetzen
Unser Ansatz ist bewusst pragmatisch: Wir integrieren AI gezielt in bestehende Prozesse, entwickeln konkrete Anwendungsfälle und vermeiden einen vorschnellen Ausbau komplexer Infrastruktur.
AI ist für uns ein Werkzeug. Kein Selbstzweck.
Fazit: Die Zukunft des Hostings bleibt betrieblich entschieden
Das CloudFest 2026 zeigt deutlich: Die Hosting-Branche verändert sich. AI, neue Infrastrukturkonzepte und steigende Anforderungen werden die Entwicklung weiter prägen. Gleichzeitig bleibt entscheidend:
- stabile Systeme
- sichere Infrastrukturen
- zuverlässiger Betrieb
Die Zukunft des Hostings wird komplexer. Entscheidend bleibt jedoch, wie stabil und effizient Systeme im Betrieb funktionieren.
