  1. @ZLabe

Thank you Zack. But how oceans are treated in the #ClimateShiftIndex is a different matter.
The scale to ±5 for land temperatures doesn't sound comprehensive enough.

Just because I have it on disk from a different question yesterday, here are Potsdam's days with maximum temperatures above 30°C since 1893.
Getting 19 days per year like nowadays is a 4 on the CSI, am I correct?
But it peaks at 6 times more often than in the beginning of the time series. See 2018 and 2019 with 32 and 28 days.
On a scale of ±1 to ±5, people in Potsdam won't see any change from 5 anymore very soon. I mean, the information CSI could give them is lost because it'll be a 5 every time they look at CSI.

Of course, there'll be a good reason for why Climate Central has cut off the scale at 5.
Maybe, it'll be worth it to put up an explanation for the cut off in the FAQ?

  2. Hello from Orlando, beneath remnants of #HurricaneNicole!

I'm a climate scientist from #Florida with a love for family, games, #comics and superheroes, good coffee and good books. I study and communicate the risks of human-caused climate change, especially sea level rise and hurricanes. Recently, I helped develop the #ClimateShiftIndex at #ClimateCentral, first daily estimate of human-caused climate influences available in real-time: climatecentral.org/realtime-fi

    Excited to be here :)
