Learn the art of straw marquetry, a traditional craft embellishing wood with colorful, light catching, pieces of wheat or rye straw.

You will make a holiday ornament for practice, using the colors of your choice.

No previous skills are necessary and children age 8 or older are welcome with a supervising adult as we will use sharp exacto knives or scissors.

All materials are included in the ticket.

It must be time for my #threegoodthings from yesterday. It was hard to pick as it was a really lovely day, but here it is:

1. Chatting to the lady working at Argos who’s job was to wrangle the queue she thanked me for just saying hello and chatting to her, because the only other people who had spoken to her where shouty and disgruntled! #benicetoretailemployees
2. My partner cooked a delicious meal of sausage, mash, veg and gravy. It may not be corden bleu but I know how stressful he finds cooking so I always appreciate it.
3. I finished his Santa hat and he wore it with pride until bed time, apparently apart from sleeping and showering he will be wearing it until Christmas now! 😂

1. It was my nieces birthday and the cake my sister made that she wasn’t happy with turned out to be delicious. The whole motherhood thing has been great for her and I love to see her thrive. Yesterday I got to be both a proud aunt and a proud big sister and I’m all up for that all the time: I couldn’t be there yesterday but am very much looking forward to seeing them this week

2. I reached out to the #WritingComunity for advice on the challenge I want to complete next year and found them to be some of the most friendly, helpful and wise people on the internet.
I feel lucky to have been allowed in.

3. I made the first two of many little stockings I’m going to hang along the stair case. What I was particularly pleased with is that when I began hand sewing this year for the first time since my efforts at infant school I had no consistency in my stitches. This is the first project that when I went to turn it inside out I decided I actually preferred to be able to see the stitching. It’s so nice to see improvement in my skills.

I spent today making this for my niece, you can definitely tell it’s homemade but that’s what makes it special. So excited to spend Christmas with a 3yr old, it’s them who make it special 😊
