Ho appreso da amici Norvegesi con cui ho svolto volontariato sull'isola di #Chios anni fa, che l'attivista Tommy Olsen responsabile sito Aegean Boat Report, è stato arrestato in #Norvegia
Tommy Olsen, da una decina d'anni, documenta il numero di imbarcazioni che effettuano la breve traversata dalla Turchia alle isole Egee, l'arrivo dei rifugiati in quelle zone e le vicende che li coinvolgono, denunciando inoltre le violenze commesse dalla guardia costiera e dalle autorità greche.
La #Grecia ha richiesto l'arresto di Tommy Olsen tramite un mandato di cattura internazionale, nel tentativo di impedire che vengano diffuse le notizie sulle violazioni contro i rifugiati.
Le accuse di collaborazione con i trafficanti di esseri umani sono, come in molti altri casi, un pretesto per neutralizzarlo e ottenere il suo arresto.

Chios und Pylos - tödliche Gewalt gegen Geflüchtete: Werden die Chefs der Küstenwache wegen fahrlässiger Tötung verurteilt?

3. Februar 2026: Wieder wie vor zwei Jahren vor Pylos fanden Geflüchtete den Tod durch Aktionen der Küstenwache. Damals vor Pylos ertranken mehr als 600 Geflüchtete beim Versuch des Abschleppes durch das Küstenwachenboot. Vor Chios starben die Geflüchteten bei einer Kollison mit einem Küstenwachenboot.
Am 9. Juni 2023 startete der Fischkutter „Adriana“ mit mehreren Hundert Menschen an Bord. Am 13. Juni innerhalb der griechischen Such- und Rettungszone wurde das Boot manövrierunfähig. Die griechische Küstenwache rettete sie nicht, sondern beobachtete sie 15 Stunden lang. Auch die Europäische Agentur für Grenzschutz, Frontex, war von Anfang an informiert. Dann, 80 km vor Pylos, versuchte ein Schiff der griechischen Küstenwache, das Boot mit einem Seil in Richtung Italien zu schleppen, anstatt die Menschen von Bord zu holen. Mehrere Handelsschiffe in der Nähe hatten hierzu ihre Hilfe angeboten.
Das Manöver ging schief. Der Fischkutter geriet infolge des Abschleppversuches bei ruhiger See ins Schaukeln und sank. Ca. 100 Menschen konnten gerettet werden, mehr als 600 weitere ertranken.
Die griechische Regierung versuchte von Anfang an, die Verantwortung der Küstenwache für das Unglück zu vertuschen. Mittlerweile wird aber gegen 21 Mitarbeiter der Küstenwache u.a. wegen Aussetzung Hilfsbedürftiger und fahrlässiger Tötung ermittelt. Dazu gehören sowohl der damalige als auch der amtierende Chef der Küstenwache.
Der Fall „Pylos“ zeigt eindrucksvoll, mit welcher kriminellen Energie EU-Behörden bei der für alternativlos erklärten Migrationsabwehr vorzugehen bereit sind. Der Tod von Hunderten von Menschen wurde dabei billigend in Kauf genommen.
Eleni Spathana ist Rechtsanwältin bei der NGO „Refugee Support Aegean“ und vertritt als Nebenklagevertreterin Überlebende des Unglücks von Pylos. Sie wird von dem laufenden Verfahren berichten. Tareq Alaows, der flüchtlingspolitische Sprecher von „Pro Asyl“ wird über die aktuellen Entwicklungen in Europa informieren.
