  1. Can someone explain this #chess puzzle to me. I get that the purpose is to take the rook in a8, but why doesn't the king take the bishop in g3 to get out of check? At the end of the day it doesn't matter, but it bothers me, #lichess

  3. It seems @12chess has stopped posting #chess #ChessPuzzles every hour. They've been silent for at least four days.

  4. I tried #Chessguesser today after long absence. Today's puzzle is tricky IMHO, although in hindsight, I can see the logic of the moves.

I ended with the classic Wordle-type scenario where I essentially got the solution, but I didn't have enough turns left to go through every possible choice for the last square. Thus, I ended up with my first Chessguesser failure so far.

  5. Well, this year's Advent of Chess was a ton of fun and I'm really glad I took part. Can't complain about 22/24 puzzles solved - especially as they are all Weird Puzzles (helpmates, selfmates, proof games etc) of what I should no longer be calling the Raymond Smullyan type, since they predate him by a good while. Still annoyed about the two that defeated me, obvs. Well worth bookmarking for next year if you are into chess and weird puzzles: adventofchess.com/

  8. Currently going through my entire professional #architecturalphotography archive of 12 years, and uploading everything to new cloud storage. Interesting to see the old work, but so tedious...

#Chesspuzzles and #Proust to pass the time.
