Imagine not supporting Linux gaming in 2026. Every game no matter how new and advanced gets Steam Deck Verified status these days and yet League of Legends or Fortnite or EA Sports FC or Call of Duty have this arbitrary thing blocking out an increasingly significant percentage of players. It's getting more ridiculous with each month.

As someone who studied like a fiend, stressed out like crazy, and would never, ever cheat on a test, this absolutely BOILS my blood.

The thought of either being disadvantaged by a curve that now includes a TON of cheaters OR being forced to retake an exam I stressed & studied for is totally crushing.

More people need to nope out of post-secondary & go the online self-directed education or apprenticeship routes.

Educational administration is not prepared for the financial consequences of a strong AI policy.

Nor were they prepared for a strong Internet policy.

Nor were they prepared for any policy in regard to cheating at all once their rapidly inflating administrative salaries were tied to student loan numbers.

Arguably the people who get to the top in the highly political and lucrative business of academic administration are unlikely to want to kill their cash cow.

They want to milk the cow. If the cow's GPA falls too low they can't continue to milk it for the full six figures and that has a direct impact on their own income.

More often than not they turn a blind eye and make ice cream to go with the plastic participation trophies.

Why would they act ethically or responsibly in the face of the self-same cheating they did to get to their own corner office?

Cheating which of course allowed them to pay off their student loans and buy nice houses while their peers who do the real work of teaching have incomes that shrink and have been shrinking ever since Ronald Reagan trickled down on all of us.

When a college president gets fired it is seldom, if ever, as the result of imposing strict academic standards.

After they are caught philandering or embezzling they are inevitably found to have plagiarized their thesis, too.

AI may be the intellectually lazy student's burglar's tool, but money, as always, is the root of all evil.

The student cheats to get loan money to forestall working for Walmart.

The professors cheat while clutching their pearls because the system is run by cheaters who will not let them flunk people like themselves.

Time marches on and the system produces more cheaters until society collapses from dishonesty and incompetence.

Our system has come to the inevitable conclusion by electing a cheater in every aspect of his life to be President.

We do not call cheaters unethical despicable scum.

We call them billionaires.

The whole OpenAI/HuggingFace incident made me feel the need to bang on again about how a very distinctive set of values have been smuggled into AI systems via an allegedly 'objective' definition of intelligence.

tl;dr - if you build something with zero tolerance of failure, it will always cheat when that is the most efficient and reliable means to complete the task
