  1. “Shoulder Arms” (1918) also features Charlie Chaplin’s older half brother Sydney Chaplin, who was a solid comedic entertainer & director in his own right. He would later go on to manage Charlie’s business affairs

  2. Yes, I know this score is more modern but I thought it was fun, okay? If you want to listen to the official score made for “Shoulder Arms” (1918) you can use the one available here ( youtu.be/Inz89ICLCL8?is=N1iZEY

  3. And now our other Charlie Chaplin film: The 1918 WWI comedy “Shoulder Arms” (youtu.be/YJZiMjIStT4?is=hwsKNr) starring, written, directed, produced, edited and initially scored by Chaplin himself… Like “The Idle Class” (1921) it also features Edna Purviance as Chaplin’s leading lady

  4. “The Idle Class” (1921) was the second of 3 films where Charlie Chaplin played a dual role. The first was 1915’s “A Night in the Show” and, of course, the final one was “The Great Dictator” (1940)

  5. Charlie Chaplin made “The Idle Class’ (1921) after going through a creative block post-the success of “The Kid”. He made this short with his Little Tramp character after becoming inspired by fooling around with some golf clubs.

  6. And now the first of our 2 films from everyone’s favorite Romani-British anarchist, Charlie Chaplin. This is “The Idle Class” (1921) (youtu.be/VuIzaF7JMRA?is=DeF3hg)

  7. This week’s TCM schedule has A LOT of #CharlieChaplin: Friday night kicks off with a documentary about Chaplin’s “The Great Dictator” (1940) followed by the film itself and “Lightlight” (1952) will also be on Saturday afternoon

  8. Next week’s #SilentSundayNights has a Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle quadruple feature- including the must see 1923 curiosity “Character Studies”!- followed by the Charlie Chaplin short comedy “A Day’s Pleasure” (1919)

  9. Buster Keaton – „The General“ (1926)
