L’ente ritiene che la parità formale sia insufficiente e promuove l’uguaglianza sostanziale: misure temporanee a favore delle donne per colmare svantaggi storici.

Heute feiert die UN-Frauenrechtskonvention #CEDAW 45-jähriges Jubiläum – ein Grund zum Feiern! Denn die Konvention gibt Frauen einklagbare Rechte. Das ist besonders wichtig in einer Zeit, in der wir weltweit einen Backlash bei den Menschenrechten von Frauen erleben.

In seinen kürzlich veröffentlichten Empfehlungen zur Umsetzung der UN-Frauenrechtskonvention an die deutsche Regierung zeigt sich der UN-Frauenrechtsausschuss (CEDAW) besorgt angesichts der Abnahme und regionalen Unterschiede in der Anzahl von Ärzt*innen, die Schwangerschaftsabbrüche vornehmen. Wie schon 2017 bemängelt der Ausschuss, dass Frauen, die einen Schwangerschaftsabbruch vornehmen lassen wollen, sich einer obligatorischen Beratung unterziehen und eine dreitägige Wartefrist einhalten müssen. Beides hat die Weltgesundheitsorganisation als medizinisch unnötig erklärt.
