Liberals won! So thankfully I don't have to give up on this shithole just yet, though we're a few seats short of a majority, so Canada remains on the country equivalent of academic probation in my book.
That being said, the GPPC (Garbage People's Party of Canada) barely registered at all with less than 1% of the popular vote, so that's definitely reason enough to celebrate.

The Republican Party in the US should be terrified by the Liberal Party victory in Canada and Mark Carney’s win as Prime Minister. While Trump wasn’t the only reason that the Canadian Liberal party was victorious in yesterday’s election, Trump was a factor. Republican candidates will similarly feel the pain of Trump’s embrace as did the Canadian Conservative party and its Prime Minister designate Pierre Poilievre.
With the Trump approval rating at around 39%, Canada’s election outcome is yet one more example of how much Trump and MAGA are hated in North America.
Republicans will be punished in 2026 similarly.
Thank you Canada for showing us the way forward.

I hope that the conservatives will soon pick someone to replace Pierre #Poilievre.
And I hope that person is someone who thinks #Canada is great and wants to help make it greater, rather than someone who thinks Canada is broken and needs fixing.
Because while there's certainly room to improve, Canada is pretty great.

Canada is at a moment right now that calls for unity. Whether or not the Liberals manage to get 172 seats or not, what I would like to see is a #Unity government. Instead of the conservatives being the opposition, Carney should invite them to form a #coalition government, to ensure the country is united and strong in its stand against the American aggressor.

I appreciate the fact we had a very short election campaign. It gave less chance for #misinformation and AI tools to take root on social media and confuse people. Maybe short election campaigns should be a new norm. #CanadaVotes #CanadaElection #election2025
