I love coffee but due to digestive issues I've been abstaining for months and given my digestive system some time to reset.
I've been using my coffee grinder to grind cacao nibs into my aeropress with what I'll generously call "mixed results"
The good:
The resulting liquid is brown and creamy.
The bad:
The resulting liquid is underextracted even with high dosing and high extraction times of 7+ minutes.
The product is quite expensive compared to coffee.
I didn't even try to use the paper filters because I could see what would happen, so I'm using a metal filter. Despite that, at some point during the extraction, my aeropress's metal filter clogs and I have to apply force and time to complete the brew.
It makes a total mess of my manual grinder. One day I'm going to have to clean this thing and it will be full of cocoa fat.
I'll likely try to find pre-ground cocao again but maybe someone in the coffee world has done more experiments than me?
