Stoked that #Bynum won over #ChavezDeremer in Oregon district 5. Also stoked that #Novick is coming back on the new #Portland city council.

I'll reiterate: The most important elections you can vote in, in this order: #city, #county / #parish, mid bureaucracy (#Metro here in #Oregon), #state and then #federal. Never fool yourself into believing that POTUS is more important that the school board, mayor or city council of your own city.

State Rep. Janelle #Bynum is projected to win the Democratic nomination in the race for Oregon’s 5th District, according to the AP.

She will face Republican Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who won there by fewer than two points in 2022. 
Bynum has a history of defeating Chavez-DeRemer,
having done so in 2016 and 2018, when each ran for the state House.

Bynum was recruited by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and ran with the endorsement of Oregon Democrats, including Gov. Tina Kotek, Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, Rep. Andrea Salinas, as well as the Congressional Black Caucus.
