I had no interest in old #DnD versions before encountering the #OSR which settled on #BX as a base. (This is the version of Basic D&D that came before the famous "red box" BECMI one that was the first one I saw IRL.)

This led me on a journey to explore other versions - #HolmesBasicDnD, the #3LBB books, the supplements to those, retroclones like #SwordsAndWizardry and #WhiteBoxFMAG, and now I think I've done my exploration and ended up back where I started, with B/X. The difference being that I can explain _why_ now.

(Short version: it's more coherent and finished than Holmes and earlier, yet still without the complications and level/power inflation of #BECMI or #ADnD.)

I haven't released any Moon Shadows #ttrpg #ose #dnd material lately, but I've been working productively on it. I typed up and laid out the High Elf and Dark Elf classes. I thought they were fairly close to the standard #bx "elf" and "drow" but all my "little tweaks" added up to significant differences worth giving them their own write-ups. I moved on to the Wood Elf class and decided to hold off on releasing the elves until they're all done. I want to make sure they're consistent.

A lovely person in the UK got themselves a Citroen BX mug this month, while someone in France picked up the same BX as a sticker.

I uploaded the Shadow Dwarf to the Moon Shadows project page for my #bx #dnd #ose #osr setting. Shadow dwarves (or duergar) suffer from the Chorus Curse. They hear a cacophony of voices in their mind. To get them out of their head, they psychically project them into animated poppets, semi-independent servitors. If you like being a druid or ranger with a bunch of pets but wish you could be a weird subterranean albino too, this is the class for you. So many little guys!

I uploaded the Sun Dwarf class to the Moon Shadows project page for my #bx #dnd #ose #osr campaign setting. Of the 5 varieties of dwarf in the Moon Shadows setting, the sun dwarves are considered the most common and the most typical dwarf. They are stout and sturdy warriors with a keen eye for craftsmanship and a propensity for using protection runes.

Just cataloged The Isle of Dread (Module X1), the original TSR hexcrawl that started it all!

29 keyed hexes of dinosaur-infested jungle in a Lost World adventure set in the Thanegioth Archipelago. Designed for B/X D&D and historically significant as the birthplace of the Known World (Mystara).

A classic that taught DMs how to run wilderness exploration and deliberately left hexes empty for you to make it your own.

I sold the Rover because a Citroen BX 1.7RD came up at the right price. It also promptly burst a hydraulic line just before collection so it was fun getting that on the recovery truck, and off again. Loved this thing, just right for me until I stopped doing long distance runs and then the diesel made no sense for me. Really enjoyed my time with it.

At this point I had three broken cars. Or maybe I'd got rid of the red one... I'm not sure. Life was a bit broken around about now so I'm not so clear on the timeline. Anyway, what I definitely didn't need was an end of life Citroen BX estate, formerly owned by Hubnut, so obviously I ended up with that. BXs are one of my all time favourite cars, I love them, even worn out they're still good.

One of the few cars I've scrapped, it needed too much.
