Back in time - September 2021. The town centre and the famous ‘Freddie’ statue.

Freddie Gilroy and the Belsen Stragglers is a statue by sculptor Ray Lonsdale which overlooks North Bay of Scarborough. The steel sculpture depicts Freddie Gilroy, a former soldier who participated in the liberation of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, sitting on a bench in his old age.

Peasholm Park in Scarborough, is a popular attraction in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

The park is designed with a distinct oriental theme, featuring pagodas, a Chinese bridge, and other traditional oriental structures. This design was part of the trend during the Edwardian era when oriental influences were popular in garden designs.

One of the unique attractions of the park is the naval warfare reenactments. The park hosts mock sea battles using model ships, providing entertainment for visitors. This tradition dates back to the 1930s and continues to be a popular and distinctive feature of the park.

Burniston is a village located on the outskirts of Scarborough in North Yorkshire, and is part of the North York Moors National Park, which is one of the UK's most beautiful and dramatic areas of natural beauty.
