  1. The screeching from the usual reactionaries and the boomer fear merchants has already started even though the budget has not even been announced:

Of course, the same crowd that also opposes any fair revenue from the gas industry ripping off the country.

Just remember, today is as good as any to start to finally start the #BoycottMurdoch you've been planning.

  6. Quite a disturbing read on the influence and behind-the-scenes meddling of vested interest money in democracy. You won't find this in any of the #BoycottMurdoch and related media (sadly, including the sanitised #OurABC in Australia):

    lets-address-this-with-qasim-r

Whilst this is an article about US politics, the parallels to Australia are eerie. Not so much on meddling with the electoral system, as luckily, we have an electoral commission. But non-transparent bodies are buying both sides of the major parties.

  11. Probably all you need to know about Adelaide Writers' Week being cancelled. Sad to see the event cancelled, but absolutely the right decision by fellow writers, and I take my hat off to them. Shame on the SA Premier - a stain on his record.

Time to wake up and cancel #MurdochPress and #BoycottMurdoch - get rid of the brown stain on the Australian media landscape #auspol

  16. @leogaggl

Oh, it made the Canberra Times and other papers at times. Just everyone was prepared to accept it as just cost blowouts and dig no further.

Also #boycottmurdoch 🙂 and Stokes and Castello.

  21. @gnoll110 Yeah. This was obvious back then for anyone who has worked on Government contracts. But I wouldn't put all the blame on journos.

Australia's media landscape is a sad, unhealthy monoculture with few left that are easily drowned out.

Successive governments (of both majors) have eroded whistleblower protection and other safeguards.

It's a sad state of affairs and more reason we need independent, solid media and a strong ABC!

    And #boycottmurdoch 🙂
