This recurve bow is turning out much better than expected. This thing was basically in proper tiller just from the initial roughout. Even after turning the tips and getting it straightened out, it barely needed any additional work.
I feel like I'm the luckiest bowyer to ever carve a stick!

Straightening the lateral dimension of the recurve bow. Lots of clamping, wedging, and heat-treating with a heat gun.

Steam bending, phase #1 (make it look cool) complete. Phase #2 (make it function) will have to wait a couple of days while the wood rehydrates after the steam bending treatment.

Experimenting with some steam bending. I’m trying to build a 70” black locust recurve bow. Fingers crossed!
