  8. #Listening to a collection of music recorded by Louis Jordan and friends, between 1956 and 1957;

    Jordan was an exponent of a jazzy blues subgenre known as 'jump blues', one of the formative influences on rock'n'roll pioneers like Chuck Berry. The upbeat tempos and jaunty horn lines of jump blues likely influenced later styles like Jamaican ska.

    I'd really like to be able to play like Marcia Ball.
    Apart from sitting cross legged at the piano that is.
    I really don't know how she does that. You know she's warming up when that right leg gets going.

    This is a wonderful thing to me and another one on my 'to do' list -

  10. Next up & #NowListening to #DonaldByrd & #BobbyJaspar live at Cannes in ‘58.

    This is just such a great recording &, while the Miles is evocative, this bops like an insane thing - particular on #BoogieWoogie - the highlight imo.

    As far as I can see, this set is unique to the excellent #SamRecords based out of Paris. If you are into #jazz - definitely check Sam out. Their issues are generally #AAA, well mastered, meticulously pressed, & well presented.
