Eg var ein hardcore #Seti@home-brukar tidleg på 2000-talet, og fekk sjekka scanna nokre pakkar med romstøy....og eg kan ikkje kome heilt vekk i frå tanken om at ein vel burde kunne nytte same konseptet på #KI...altså utnytte datakrafta på mange datamaskinar rundt om i verda som står ubrukte mykje av tida....som verdas største/eit globalt datasenter? #BOINC

An 8 years old bug is now finally addressed and fixed in #BOINC client. Now BOINC client can properly detect idle time and run the processes when the computer is idle (if user have configured it that way). More info:

Is the #BOINC #DistributedComputing project sadly gradually becoming obsolete or dying? #WCGrid nowadays seems to spend almost as much time down as up under its not-so-new caretakers, I very very rarely get any work from #ClimatePrediction, #RosettaAtHome also seems to have fairly frequent server errors, and most of the rest seem to be literal number-crunching that I don't want to expend electricity on. Have #GPU nodes mostly taken over for this sort of scientific research now?

This year I migrated completely from #boinc to #folding since none of the projects in BOINC seem to be actually working anymore.
Months of jobless queues and even if there where jobs the servers would never allow me to turn them in.
Both Rosetta and WorldCommunityGrid seem to be practically death.
Its been a rough winter but a good one for scientific computing. Managed to go from rank 12k tot 6.2
Need a bit more computer headroom for the new house though.

I am cleaning up my vault and found an entry about #WorldCommunityGrid
In the past I've contributed three using the #boinc client.
I can remember that in this time, they had some successes for childhood cancer.Looks like this project is still online.
Have you ever heard of that or done similar things?
I think #SetiAtHome worked similar.

Ich habe mir gerade mal schnell #BUDA von #BOINC angeschaut. Also quasi #Docker Container als App für BOINC. Was ist das denn bitte wieder für ein Design? Warum muss man ein Dockerfile und die entsprechenden Dateien zur Verfügung stellen damit dann auf dem Client der ganze Container erst gebaut wird? Einfacher wäre doch einen Container aus einem Hub zur Verfügung zu stellen und den Job auf dem Client in den Container zu mounten.

Doing another crunch run for @einsteinathome
Today it's BRP7 (Meerkat) tasks on the menu, my computer is searching for binary pulsar stars.
If everything goes well, in two-three months I will update my server and my GPU, and then I will really burn through the tasks!

in #BOINC news, @einsteinathome has started a new type of tasks, the Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave Search on O4 data (O4MD1), which runs on GPUs. On my 3060, a task takes around 5 minutes, but my BOINC machine is very CPU-bottlenecked when doing GPU calculations

I'm trying to get BOINC running headless on Linux, in a separate account, but I can't figure out how to attach to a project.
Does anyone have some info / guidance?
I know I have to run./boinccmd --atach-project, but what is a project URL and where do I find the corresponding key?? -
