Alright, #openbar is a real treat!
I actually did install it a few months ago but had problem with a rectangular shadow around the bar when applied and uninstalled it because of it.
After your video today I thought "It can't be that easy, perhaps some other extension doesn't play nice with it". And I was right: if #blurmyshell is disabled all is fine and now #Gnome has truly a WM-like look. Love the auto-theming, too!

If you use #BlurMyShell on #GNOME with dual monitors and your activities overlay is intermittently not blurring, adjust the position of that monitor in ~/.config/monitors.xml to be one pixel off vertically <y>1</y> and then it will be blurred and transparent every time.
