'Creditors owed more than $7 million after the sudden cancellation of Byron Bay's Bluesfest in March are unlikely to recoup all of the money they are owed, a new financial report has revealed.
The company running the festival went into liquidation in March, three weeks before the Easter event was due to begin.
Worrells, the liquidator appointed to handle all financial matters for Bluesfest, today delivered its report on the company's finances to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
It found the company, operating under Bluesfest Enterprises and Bluesfest Byron Bay, owed more than $7 million to over 900 creditors.

Last day of music at Ottawa #Bluesfest, so we’re down the last few days of #FestivalLife.
I’ve already had three conversations today with people about how it’s sad that “it’s already over”, and after nearly six weeks of being in-site, I’m ready for a few solid days off of to do laundry, lying on the couch doing nothing, sleeping, and then… returning to running, and regularly scheduled life… then the mountain of email that awaits. -

Edmonton Bluesfest Recap & Klondike Park venue review
Last weekend was the Edmonton International Blues Festival at Klondike Park on the Expo grounds.
Bluesfest is my never-miss festival of the summer, since I arrived in Edmonton in 2011. It was always at Hawrelak Park amphitheatre, under the big tent, with big dance floor (2017 shown). But Hawrelak is under renovations.
