BEGGAR is, apparently, a solo #BlackMetal Project from the U.S. and falls into the category of Raw Schwarzmetall. It's lo-fi, harsh and full of reverb, as if recorded at the deepest, dankest point of a mouldy dungeon.

But it'd be reductive to leave it at that - because inside and throughout all the scratchy, rabid rage is a wonderful sense of magical atmosphere, melancholic yearning, subtle hints of synth and folk music. There's even a spell to become a hare! 🐰

And also, not so subtle, a very socialist sentiment. A nice one for #BlackMetalMonday ->

Pure, intense Dutch black metal according to the book. Singing about local folklore / legends. In this case about a women avenging her abuse by her husband with his murder and the ensuing story.

I'm having a really good time listening to the new Sigh album.

While it does retain black metal elements, there is more epicness than darkness. And the Japanese folk influences increase the overall sensation of "powerfulness".

I never felt so uplifted by a black metal album.

Something delightfully weird approaches from Austria on this #BlackMetalMonday. Some people might not even call BRÅND #BlackMetal at all - and that'd be understandable because it combines so many other diverse things into it.
