  1. @ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite #BikeBite A3 continued/conclusion: So from my experience I'd say close to the max pressure doesn't do any harm to the tube (of at least road, touring or city bicycles). And yes, they roll better that way, but the ride is also less soft and slightly bumpier. (With the more gravelbike-ish G-Line I occasionally lower the pressure depending on the surface I'm riding on, but only if I need more grip.)

  2. #BikeBite A5: I'm a cyclist.

I knew someone who called people on bikes "bikists". He also used the word "campist"...

    A2. I'm not so sure.

That small pip is an extra safety feature. For it to have been relied upon and failed would mean the crank arm bolts had already come loose. I think that would have been noticeable under normal circumstances.

  4. @ascentale @ai6yr #bikebite A5: It's pretty hot and dry here a lot of the time, so I have two bottle cages with 750mL bottles, and I pause often enough that drinking on-the-go isn't really an issue. I do have a third handlebar-mount bottle cage which I'll probably try out and see if I use it.

For longer rides I often end up strapping a 2L soft-drink bottle to the back rack if I don't know where water is available and I often carry a Platypus filter in case water is available but looks/smells a bit suss.

I used to use a camelback on motorcycles but I find it awkward on the pushbike.

  5. @ascentale @kimu #bikebite A4: Fox Mainframe in bright yellow. It fits my bowling-ball shaped head nicely, the visor/peak/sticky-outy-bit is the right size and I like that it's visible from a kilometer away. Overall very good quality, everything works very well.

I dislike that I had to cover the underside of the front edge of the visor in black electrical tape to stop it blinding me in the sun and also it has faded a bit so the helmet and the visor are quite different colours now which looks pretty grotty. I'll buy a new black visor for it if I can find one.

  6. @ascentale @trouble #bikebite A8: it's a weird one, but 100 x M4 x 6mm cap head screws, to replace the pointy studs in my flat MTB pedals which take chunks out of my shins. They're a lot smoother and rounder than studs but still work fine with hiking shoes.

  7. @ascentale A1. Oregon, USA. It’s been raining this week, so I haven’t been able to go on as much rides as I’d like. But, I’ve been planning out long-ish rides to go on once it dries up a bit. Even trying to pick out a couple local-ish spots to go do some #BikeCamping at. #BikeBite
