Big Box of Comics: Spirograph Edition

Unless you’ve been trapped in the Phantom Zone with General Zod for the last hundred years, you know that my Big Box Of Comics series is a way to share the comic-book treasures I’ve enjoyed over the years thanks to readers clicking through my affiliate links where I earn some store credit to buy more comics to blog about! But recently, readers’ purchases through my Amazon links went not toward comic books but toward reconnecting with one of the lost joys of my childhood: a Spirograph set.

So here is a collection of my spiro-doodles from the past couple of weeks. They were fun to create and to play around with for a few hours with my mother and sister on a weekend lunch date, and Mom has taken to using the Spirograph to ornament unique handmade cards with her designs. I also picked up a set of colored fine-line pens and dug into Mom’s epic box of colored pencils to see if we could get some different effects, and we tried all kinds of crazy stuff just to see what happens.

If you are thinking of playing with Spirograph, I recommend you head over to Reddit at https://www.reddit.com/r/spirograph/ to see some amazing and advanced techniques, including using ink that glows under black light! I got a basic set that is a great introduction to the concept, but you can take Spirograph to a whole other level. These were all created with a ten-dollar set for beginners.
