The Pharisees (v.14) derided Jesus for his story on use of wealth, and so get (v. 19-31) the story of the rich man and Lazarus. Denney calls it “the story of a man who forgot to invest in charity until it was too late.”

    Do we want to draw all kinds of morals from Scripture that don’t involve our neighbor’s well-being?
