  1. From Moses in 1400 BC to John in 95 AD, the Bible emphasizes the permanence of God's Word. Deuteronomy 11:18-19 calls for His words to be taught to future generations. Isaiah 40:8 assures us it will endure forever, while Matthew 5:18 affirms its authority and precision. 2 Timothy 3:16 highlights that all Scripture is God-breathed, and Matthew 24:35 promises its message will never pass away. #BibleTruth

  3. John Dod, Puritan minister, gives instructions for spiritual examination. Justice should also be examined (Isaiah 1:17-19). Give up cruelty, practice mercy. Stop oppressing; be known for relieving the oppressed.

Now today, wouuld anyone sit still for a pastor alleging that anyone in font of them, had ever been in the practice of oppressing the poor, that by small, hypothetical chance?

How can you seek judgement and praise it accordingly?

  4. Jacques Saurin, French Reformed pastor, on giving alms. He pronounces woe to those who say, “I gave at the office.” Don’t let state aid be a pretext for your own failure to give aid.

Isn’t much of contemporary religion about encouraging each other in exactly what Saurin calls “hard-heartedness”? Overstating the amount of dole, and fomenting resentment that others are getting some?

How can you give alms today?
