Codename : Scottish Bardic Alethorpe (2025)
Largely due to bad planning, and other factors, this batch is being brewed just ahead of St. Andrew’s Day, and will be enjoyed for Robbie Burns Day. In an older tradition, it is known as an 80 shilling ale, but more modernly known as a Scottish Export. A shoutout to The Apartment Brewer, I recently saw his video, and was inspired to emulate his […]

Codename : Westfort IIPA
Having cycled through a series of other India Pale Ale styles, it was time to double down, and try a double IPA. A little about the the style,
Strongly hopped, but clean, dry, and lacking harshness. Drinkability is an important characteristic; this should not be a heavy, sipping […] -

CW: Vanity, fingernails, manicures
In winter I decided to try getting a #manicure, to last longer than regular nail polish. After research and knowing that my swimming would be less than good for longevity, I decided to try two options.
Tried #biosculpture, and it lasted well, but the edges were so tempting to pick. The manicure I had also had kind of messy edges at the cuticle, which was disappointing given the cost. Got it removed at just over 3 weeks.
Next I tried builder in a bottle #BIAB. Despite wearing gloves when doing washing/cleaning and not swimming, it already lifted after 4 days. I also ready dislike how the texture feels on certain substances (when it touches plastic or gloss print etc) and the thickness of it. Booked it to be removed 10 days after the manicure was done, which is an awful return on investment.
Unsure whether to get biosculpture again or revert to home "manicures" and just tolerate the maintenance needed (and the weakness of my natural nails). Will have to have a think.

Codename : Westfort Fog Alethorpe
A previous fog brew turned out with good success, so I am trying another variation with an American Pale Ale (APA). Along with the mash in of grain, steep in Earl Grey tea, then during the boil introduce lactose to emulate a London Fog tea. To use up base malts, I combined pilsner and Golden Promise, thereby... -
