CW: Vegan chili
One of the wildly delicious things I made yesterday was a big pot of #vegan chili, and I replaced half the beans with Beyond Beef that I browned in a hot pan with a tiny bit of canola oil and some taco seasoning powder. It’s the first time I’d ever used that stuff and it was delicious in the chili! Greg liked it, too.

I actually tried these, and don't ask why, but raw.
They weren't so fabulous without cooking (duh!) but I've had Beyond Beef patties and ground round (cooked!) and those were good.
I imagine these would be decent if cooked as well!

Good Health Farm, a Malaysian startup has created a faux beef mince based on tempeh.
Good Health Farm is hoping to meet the demand for mock meats with fewer and more natural ingredients.
Good Health Farm is self funded so far, but will be looking for seed money in September.
Their faux beef mince contains a base of tempeh, textured soy protein and shiitake mushrooms, with vegetable oil, isolated soy protein, an unspecified thickener, flavorings, beetroot powder, soy sauce and sugar
"One thing the company has in its favor is the mince’s price point. At S$6.99 ($5.15) for each 240g pack, Fairlam promises that the brand’s tempeh beef is at par with premium beef in Singapore. It’s also nearly half the price of Impossible’s mince, and over a dollar cheaper than Quorn’s mince. In today’s high-inflation times, when consumers are facing ever-rising food prices, Good Health’s products could prove attractive."
