  1. 🪧 HA-Betterstack-Uptime is now released
For no real reason apart from my own wanting,
I created this new custom integration for Home Assistant to bring Better Stack Uptime monitor status into Home Assistant.

  2. Mwhahahahahaha!

I’m now running pandoras_pot as a service alongside my website on #DigitalOcean App Platform, and it’s serving traffic to bots, and I’m watching the logs on #BetterStack! 👺

(Once I get my blog back in working order, I’ll write a post about this.)

  3. I gave up on trying to run my own #OpenTelemetry collector and SIEM system. OpenObserve is really nice and easy to run locally, but deploying is a pain, especially since the host I want to collect logs for is running as a service in Digital Ocean’s App Platform, which is sort of like Kubernetes Lite, and to run my service, collector, and SIEM all together, I’d have to pretty much switch to full-on Kubernetes or some other monstrosity.

So, I’m using #BetterStack, who happens to sponsor #Monolog.

  8. Can't figure out how to add mastodon-web.service logging to the Better Stack via Fluentd... Fluentd is completely new thing for me.

    I mean this: sudo journalctl -u mastodon-web.service --all -f

I want to add that debug log to log tail. But even though everything is configured, up and running, logtail shows nothing. Nada.

Let's wait for the support to reply for a third time.

  9. I can totally recommend betteruptime.com (now rebranded to uptime by better stack). They used to have lifetime deals on #appsumo (on a monthly basis it’s not that cheap).

But I use it to monitor all my #servers and #services (polling #SSH or #DNS or #SMTP, checking #HTTP responses, expecting heartbeats every X minutes, etc). Where before I wouldn’t really know if some obscure app went #down, now at least I get an #email.

  10. No no no. Why limit the amount of sessions! I have a Mac Mini (desktop), a MBP (laptop), an iPad and an iPhone.
Add in some in-app browser (which don’t share sessions, but makes it easier when clicking on a link from an email)… That’s … 6 active sessions?

Not like supporting additional sessions costs money… Tssss
