While I certainly do think his start with was rough as a father figure, I do think he smoothly transitioned into that role better than any other character in Dragon Ball.

As a result I think he actually does have the best development, even though it was a lot more subtle compared to Vegeta.

I could probably go on a longer rant about other stuff regarding the character but I suppose I'll keep it to #BestDad. I need to get ready for bed lol.

So I started this by saying that Piccolo was the #BestDad. I know Goku being a terrible father is a bit of a meme. I personally think he's pretty awful as a parent, though not awful as a positive role model and influence.

And I also don't LITERALLY think Piccolo thinks of himself as Gohan's other dad or that Gohan thinks of him as anything other than that best friend who abducted him and beat the crap out of him in the wilderness when he was 4.

I think there's plenty of room to consider them separate characters, and many do, but since Piccolo is the reincarnation of King Piccolo, and inherited his memories and will, as far as I'm concerned they're more or less one and the same.
