  1. Tonight's NON-popcorn movie was Berlin Express (1948).

    Impressive, with genuine 1947 footage of Paris and Berlin.

    It showed a fine touch with dry (even wry) humour in places.

    The other half of the household is puzzled as to why only the Germans seemed to be the ones opposed to reunification. Funnily enough, it was an opinion I was exposed to in NZ in the 60's. I was way too young then to make sense of it now.

    A++, will watch again.

  2. Stumbled across Berlin Express (1948), which has an opening scene where the children of a poor mother bring home a pigeon for dinner. It has a message tied to its leg. Taking it to the authorities, the mother passes a street sign: "Rue des Saules", with Sacré-Cœur visible at the end of the street.

    Since I was just street-viewing the area this afternoon, I idly geo-located the spot (as you do). Rue Ste-Rustique, 48°53'13.7"N 2°20'23.0"E
