  1. This morning at the Django booth there was a very interesting meeting between the BeeWare and Django projects 📱✨

Russell gave a small demo showing how the Django admin could become a native mobile application using BeeWare.

Natalia and Jacob, our two Django Fellows, seemed very interested, so maybe some interesting collaboration or experiment could grow from this meeting.

  2. @astraluma do #BeeWare apps work on your phone, out of curiosity?

  3. Today in #BeeWare

@freakboy3742 tries to name a thing. Gets sad because name is taken on #PyPI.

Upon closer inspection: _Russell_ owns the package on PyPI.

"But Doctor! I _am_ the Cheeseshop!"

  4. Oops, @kattni just caught a bunch of people, including me, with a BeeWare challenge coin check in the middle of her talk. Going to be a big round of drinks tonight. #nbpy #beeware

  5. @tshirtman #Beeware compiles "Hello World", #Flet compiles "Hello World" in seconds". 😉

  6. hi @beeware
I am looking for a graphical widget with x-axis and y-axis to show a value or more values changing over time like below. Is this currently possible in #BeeWare?
    #linux
By the way beeware is uber-cool (so you know)

  7. Took Beeware for a spin yesterday. It's just the Toga web view tutorial from the documentation page, but serving my FreedomBox web interface.

There's not much to see in terms of code. I am just amazed that it works on GTK and Android. I had to put a lot of work into resizing PNGs because the platforms expect different resolutions.

I don't know yet if the native Android app's features can be fully replicated.

  8. Just realized I left my Beeware challenge coin at home, glad I didn’t get challenged! I suppose there’s still time on a plane or between flights. #PyConUS #Beeware

  9. I am probably not the first person to make this observation, but I am starting to suspect that #Beeware might actually be the bee's knees.

Going from zero to #Android app in just a few minutes, in #Python, and then seeing the exact same "hello world" look good in a Linux GTK rebuild a few seconds later ... is very cool indeed.

  10. @G047_H4xx0r_M4573R_814573R @MaggieFero this was tongue-in-cheek, as the rest of the thread indicates more clearly.

I've worked on the #BeeWare project for nearly a decade, which is a pretty successful attempt to make cross-platform (iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux, Android) apps in pure python.

We're always looking for contributors if this is an area you care about.

  16. CW: Mobile python programming

I have recently been trying out #kivy for a project, but was also made aware of #beeware and it looks nice. What is your favourite #python cross platform gui framework? Tell me your experiences please! Should I switch to beeware?

  17. I was just on @talkpython and we ran out of time to ask me for a notable package, but I was going to say Toga from the project because they just hit a milestone of having audited all of their widgets on all supported OSs!

  18. Rewriting a #tkinter app to #beeware , I had a hell of a time figuring out that I have to use async and await with file dialog boxes. Just me being an amateur?

  19. Got my challenge coin at for adding the new trusted publishers to all Beeware packages!

  20. It’s not *quite* merged, but I’m very pleased with my single day of sprints today. Thanks to Malcolm Smith and @freakboy3742 for the help. Fun to be able to go from zero to a decent contribution in a single day!
