"Badania archeologiczne wykazały, że już 10-7 tys. lat temu ludy zamieszkujące ziemie polskie ceniły sobie możliwość pozyskiwania bobrowych skór i mięsa. W średniowiecznej Polsce bobry były rozpowszechnione na terenie całego kraju. Słowo bóbr było obecne w języku polskim już od XIII wieku. Bóbr stanowił obiekt szczególnej troski królów i książąt polskich".

  8. I would like to buy some merch from the New Mexico #Beaver Project. Just a bumper sticker and maybe a hat. They advertise the merch on their insta feed from time to time but as far as I can tell it's only available if you meet up with them at one of their in-person events.

A year or two ago I exchanged messages with them asking if I could send them some money and they'd sent me a bumper sticker. They offered to send me one for free but alas it never arrived.

One of these days I'll be in New Mexico at the same time as one of their events so I can get that to bumper sticker 😅

  9. Hiked up canyon in Bandelier to see how the dams are doing. We hiked as far as the Natural Bridge in the narrows, where we had lunch. On the way back I counted 19 stream crossings (so *2 for the whole hike) and 11 beaver dams. None of the stream crossings were particularly difficult; someone has added stepping stones to some of the crossings that didn't use to have them, so we kept our feet mostly dry.

  10. Beaver dam, early spring. The red-winged blackbirds have arrived, but the green of the vegetation has not begun. This does not show how long that dam is. If you make it to the 4th node, with the very still pond, the dam goes all the way across to the far side. It is really an amazing undertaking. When we had drought conditions years ago, this area was still green, because beavers are amazing while also, at times, problematic

  15. Good Morning #Canada
May 1st is the official start of the #RoadTrip season. I read that on the internet so it must be true.
We're revisiting a past #BigStuffInSmallTowns post to highlight that a treasured Canadian monument had some work done. Mac the Moose got a new rack. The Mayor of Moose Jaw also has some controversial comments on our beloved #Beaver.

  17. By the way, the correct spelling is "Bóbr".
    Nevertheless, it is pronounced "Bober"
    🦫🦫🦫
Übrigens die korrekte Schreibweisen ist "Bóbr".
    Wird jedoch "Bober" ausgesprochen.

  18. The de Havilland Beaver: Bush Plane Legend

First flown in 1947, the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver became the workhorse of the Canadian wilderness. 🛩️ Durable and reliable, it opened up remote regions from coast to coast. 🇨🇦 #Canada #BushPlane #Beaver #Aviation

  19. It's International Beaver Day! Did you know that the #beaver is a keystone species? This means their presence is vital in keeping an ecosystem together. They're the world's greatest builders of small, rich wetlands that provide habitat for a variety of plants and #animals. 22. My beaver lino block print is hand printed on delicate, translucent, handmade Japanese paper with a deckle edge. This is a North American beaver (Castor canadensis), symbol of Canada. 🇨🇦

April 7 is International Beaver Day. While a species of “least concern” according to the IUCN Red List of mammals, numbers of North American beavers have been literally decimated since colonization. 🧵1/

  23. Hype for the Future 136/284: The Oklahoma Panhandle Explained

Overview The Oklahoma Panhandle refers to the three (3) westernmost counties within the State of Oklahoma, namely the Counties of Cimarron, Texas, and Beaver. The county seats are Boise City, Guymon, and Beaver, respectively, and the region is served by United States Routes 54, 56, 83, 270, 287, 385, and 412. Each highway provides a distinct perspective on the communities throughout the communities of the area, with Boise City in particular serving as home to the Cimarron Heritage Center.
