OK, I'm pretty sure this banana car I saw in 2017 is the same one in the article that's been making the rounds lately.
I mean, I did entertain the possibility that there's more than one car shaped like a giant banana, and a lot can happen in a decade, but...
- The overall shape, size and paint job are the same.
- The wheels, seats and windshield look the same.
- It has Michigan plates (in another photo - I took several and saved them in a folder called (what else) Banana Car).
- On the Big Banana Car's website, the fun page has a couple of pictures of it with the Barnana logo, so apparently they did hire him for a while to promote their brand.
