First sunny and warm Winter's day for months, so left the desk and went for a drive round a part of the hills I hadn't visited. Someone on #AusSocial was claiming the #AdelaideHills had the best donuts, so I thought I'd drive to Mt Pleasant, where they'd bought them.

Went via Stirling - for organic honey and a chai - then Lobenthal, of bakery fame. Decided to skip the rest of the trip and stop at the baker there for a donut, feeling sceptical.

Bought an iced lemon one. Actually wasn't bad! Not that I am any judge of donuts.

Big day out. Back to the desk.

Yesterday, newcat was hissing at me and laying her ears down after i took her to the vet Friday for her last of three kitten immunisations (do MAHA people immunise their pets but not their children? I bet there some data science or a @Vox today, explained to be done there). Anyway #ausSocial #mapstodon DM if you find more pics on Google maps (i was an early, very early contributer when they still tried to _do no evil_ and alta vista and yahoo search were still competitors).

I suppose i shouldn't expect DFES_WA to post on #ausSocial and not just X, but anyway there's stuff happening in Northern WA

If we go to the about section of our instances sometimes we'll find servers that are "filtered"...I remember that now. I'll update you both if I got more info...

I’m thinking of switching #Mastodon servers. I’m on #ausSocial at the moment but it’s a bit of a loosely populated echo chamber. Would appreciate more diversity of views, and a higher volume of interaction.

I have been wondering how the costs of running an instance are met? The server will be growing - especially today! - and must chew up so much bandwidth and storage.
So what I'm thinking is how can we appreciative subscribers help this and make it sustainable?

I just want to give a massive shout out to the aus.social mods. In a moment of anger and frustration I did a bad thing. They were very polite and informative when they notified me and did the right thing by taking the post down. I freakin love this community. 💖
