As the “supercharged” construction of new data centers to power artificial intelligence blankets the country, a growing resistance movement to these massive corporate projects amid a lack of public oversight is not far behind. As organizer Astra Taylor explains, local fights across the country are leveraging this “industry chokepoint” to force important questions, from the distribution of land, water and energy resources to democratic governance over an industry currently driven by a “billionaire Big Tech agenda.” While AI boosters frame the technology as inevitable, Taylor says, “I think that many people are more skeptical than that. … That’s part of what it means to have democratic governance over AI, to say, ’No, we don’t need this technology to take over every facet of our existence.’”

To put it in #carnist terms, once you develop a taste (for othering), you can't stop.

Z pomocą przychodzi "Doikayt" - tutejszość, którą, za Molly Crabapple, zaproponował @ayoub i Naomi Klein oraz Astra Taylor, które piszą:
We wschodniej Europie, przed faszystowską i stalinowską zagładą, żydowski socjalistyczny Związek Pracy zorganizował się wokół jidyszowej koncepcji Doikayt, czyli „tutejszości”. Molly Crabapple, która napisała (niebawem wychodzącą) książkę o tej zaniedbanej historii, definiuje Doikayt jako prawo do „walki o wolność i bezpieczeństwo w miejscach, w których żyli, wbrew wszystkim, którzy chcieli ich śmierci” − nie ucieczki do Palestyny lub Stanów Zjednoczonych.
Być może potrzebna jest współczesna uniwersalizacja tej koncepcji: przywiązanie do prawa do „tutejszości”, tej konkretnej chorej planety, do tych kruchych ciał, do prawa godnego życia w dowolnym miejscu na planecie, nawet jeśli nieuniknione wstrząsy zmuszają nas do przeprowadzki. „Tutejszość” może być przenośna, wolna od nacjonalizmu, zakorzeniona w solidarności, szanująca prawa tubylców i nieograniczona granicami.
Tutejszość, pozwala nam uniknąć fantazjowania o odwieczności, rdzenności i wyjątkowości naszych relacji z tym czy innym kawałkiem ekosystemu. Pozwala nam odetchnąć głęboko tu-i-teraz i spojrzeć na naszych bliźnich-sąsiadów jak na współgospodarzy, o równych nam prawach i obowiązkach wobec "wspólnego pastwiska". Od tego zaczyna się Wielka Zmiana, którą Klein i Taylor formułują za autorkami podcastu "How To Survive The End Of The World":W tym momencie, gdy faszyzm dni ostatecznych prowadzi wojnę na każdym froncie, nowe sojusze są niezbędne. Ale zamiast pytać: „Czy wszyscy podzielamy ten sam światopogląd?” Adrienne zachęca nas, byśmy zapytali: „Czy bije pani serce i czy planuje pani żyć? Proszę przejść tędy, a resztę ustalimy po drugiej stronie”.
