Naomi Klein postet in ihrem Newsletter das Cover von End Times Fascism. Das Buch, das sie zusammen mit Astra Taylor schreibt, wird am 15. September erscheinen. Es ist aus dem Guardian-Artikel entstanden, über den ich hier vor einiger Zeit geschrieben habe. Gerade erst hat sie mit Ezra Klein über die Themen des Buchs diskutiert.

Ich bin auf das Buch gespannt – vor allem, weil Klein und Taylor die Themen der Spiegelwelt und des apokalyptischen Faschismus zusammen mit dem Kampf gegen die sich verschlimmernde Klimakatastrophe behandeln. In ihrem Newsletter schreibt Naomi Klein:

As we show via original reporting and analysis, internal conflicts and contradictions leave today’s far right intensely vulnerable to a new kind of “pro-life” politics, one that chooses the living world over robots and weapons and refuses to give up on the idea of a shared future.

I was delighted to hear Astra Taylor bring up #anthropocentrism - I have long held the theory that our #speciesist/human-supremacist approach to life on earth is the slippery slope that supports the categorisation and "othering" of humans based on race, religion and nationality. To put it in #carnist terms, once you develop a taste (for othering), you can't stop.

W historycznych (powstałych "za ludzkiej pamięci") koloniach #LudyRdzenne, a co najmniej pamięć o nich, są ważnym probierzem naszej (tj. uogólnionych "ludzi białych") zmiany nastawienia do tych, których nasi przodkowie zdominowali i wyniszczyli. Jednak na terenach skolonizowanych w czasach prehistorycznych, gdzie migracje i kolonizacje odczytujemy z haplogrup i materiałów archeologicznych, fiksacja na "rdzenności" prowadzi do konfuzji czy wręcz nadużyć.

Z pomocą przychodzi "Doikayt" - tutejszość, którą, za Molly Crabapple, zaproponował @ayoub i Naomi Klein oraz Astra Taylor, które piszą:

We wschodniej Europie, przed faszystowską i stalinowską zagładą, żydowski socjalistyczny Związek Pracy zorganizował się wokół jidyszowej koncepcji Doikayt, czyli „tutejszości”. Molly Crabapple, która napisała (niebawem wychodzącą) książkę o tej zaniedbanej historii, definiuje Doikayt jako prawo do „walki o wolność i bezpieczeństwo w miejscach, w których żyli, wbrew wszystkim, którzy chcieli ich śmierci” − nie ucieczki do Palestyny lub Stanów Zjednoczonych.
Być może potrzebna jest współczesna uniwersalizacja tej koncepcji: przywiązanie do prawa do „tutejszości”, tej konkretnej chorej planety, do tych kruchych ciał, do prawa godnego życia w dowolnym miejscu na planecie, nawet jeśli nieuniknione wstrząsy zmuszają nas do przeprowadzki. „Tutejszość” może być przenośna, wolna od nacjonalizmu, zakorzeniona w solidarności, szanująca prawa tubylców i nieograniczona granicami.

Tutejszość, pozwala nam uniknąć fantazjowania o odwieczności, rdzenności i wyjątkowości naszych relacji z tym czy innym kawałkiem ekosystemu. Pozwala nam odetchnąć głęboko tu-i-teraz i spojrzeć na naszych bliźnich-sąsiadów jak na współgospodarzy, o równych nam prawach i obowiązkach wobec "wspólnego pastwiska". Od tego zaczyna się Wielka Zmiana, którą Klein i Taylor formułują za autorkami podcastu "How To Survive The End Of The World":

W tym momencie, gdy faszyzm dni ostatecznych prowadzi wojnę na każdym froncie, nowe sojusze są niezbędne. Ale zamiast pytać: „Czy wszyscy podzielamy ten sam światopogląd?” Adrienne zachęca nas, byśmy zapytali: „Czy bije pani serce i czy planuje pani żyć? Proszę przejść tędy, a resztę ustalimy po drugiej stronie”.

Any #BookRecommendations for me?

I haven't read a lot of #books in my life. It was always hard for me to get the motivation, but the last 4 years, because of my depression, it was often impossible.
But now I'm able to read again, and want to read up on some important issues.

Here are some of my favorite books I read so far:

📖 #Platonic by #MarisaGFranco.
It's a great book about the importance of #friendship and how to get and maintain one. It helped me learn a lot about myself and is a big part of how I started getting out of my depression.

📖 #Ace by #AngelaChen.
A book about #asexuality that everybody should read, not just ace people.

📖 "The time to act is now" (original title: #HandelnStattHoffen) by @carorackete
A moving book about #ClimateJustice and lots of related issues.

Right now I'm reading:

📖 "War das jetzt rassistisch? 22 Antirassismus-Tipps für den Alltag" written by the people behind the #BlackVoices referendum.
A book about #racism in Austria and Germany.

Some books I have at home, that are just waiting for me to read are:

Another issue that interest me is e.g. #ableism (especially, but not limited to psychological disability).
But feel free to also recommend great books on other issues.
