I need help with Debian: apt update/upgrade is not working for me. The release is "testing".

For a few days now, it acts like there are no new versions of the installed packages. However, my Firefox ESR is 115.15.0esr, and this web page says current Trixie (testing) version is 128.3.0esr-2

What might have gone wrong, and how might I debug / fix it?

I got an almost free projector and screen. The problem is i don't have a clear place to mount it and I need to get creative.
Right now I'm thinking I could use some sort of rails on a wall, so that the screen can be moved up when I don't use it (it's retractable as well but i can't leave the "bar" itself at the useful level all the time).
Is it a stupid idea? Any suggestions?

So I want some advice about #FLOSS blogging platforms. Both for me and for other non techie users.

I would like to write blog posts easily on my android phone, e.g. writing markdown. Either by using an app or using a web ui.

I need to be able to post pictures so I guess #writefreely is out of the question.

At the moment I use a static site generator called hexo and deploy it to gitlab pages. But this requires git.

I also want to use my own domain name.

Why can’t I download my list of followers? I’ve heard that acct migration is flawed & painful, so it would be useful to be able to easily reach out to followers to manually tell them where you’ve moved.

Servers go down spontaneously w/out warning. You cannot do an acct migration after the server is gone. Creating a new acct & reaching out to followers is the only possible way to migrate in that case.

Okay, this is frustrating and it amazes me this is even an issue. Where on earth has the search gone and trending tags in Mastodon v4.1.0? Yes, the menu / page has collapsed down to fit within the screen width resolution of 1920 px. It is as if these features do not exist now, this is not right. Am I missing something? Yes, I'm aware of if I increase the browser width these features reappear.

So I think I asked this before but I'm still unsure...

In the web interface, there is no way to keep track of the last 'read' post in the Home timeline when you close the browser and then re-open it, right?

It currently always goes to the latest post which makes it hard to scroll back down to where you were before.

Maybe @feditips knows?
