Wild Card just released the latest DLC - Lost Colony. Our dedicated server installer now has support for this new map, along with the new options that have been added! Take note though, this new map is HUGE, it takes 20GB of free memory just to start.

I had a couple folks hop into our Discord to ask for some help on the ARK Server installation script.

Got them resolved, but one of the comments struck me as interesting. "Do you support modded maps"

I didn't even think of modded maps... but that sounded like a good idea!

So I'd like to announce my Debian/Ubuntu installer for ARK SA now has support for modded maps! (and a bunch of other improvements to the UI)

Notably work on the management interface which it deploys.

• backup/restore functionality into the interface
• display mod names when viewing individual map
• better handles startup errors and provides better diagnostic data for them
• provides player data wipe functionality
• oh yeah, and offers Valguero now

trying to figure out if there's a non-nitrado option yet for hosting an #ArkAscended / #ArkSurvivalAscended * server that doesn't require a computer science degree to figure out (yes I understand you can rent a general server and install ASA directly, no I have no confidence I'd be able to figure that out from the technical side) and here's one called "citadel" but reviews that are split between pretty much only five and one star reviews ring my alarm bells...hello bought fake positive reviews (:

I feel relatively confident to say that it is doubtful if Veracious Network will offer Ark Survival Ascended servers for our community.

Why?

If what's said in that video is true, Nitrado will have the exclusive to host ARK Ascended private servers, ie: we would be legally unable to host the game server on our private server hardware. I don't mind paying for software, and I also don't mind paying for hardware, of which collectively we've shelled out a fair amount.

We've paid money up front for infrastructure to run our games and services so that we can keep our monthly operating costs low; in the long-term it makes financial sense.

If a game publisher is dictating that we pay monthly to their "exclusive provider" for private server hosting, that game publisher can fuck right off with that bullshit. (Of course I'm referring to Snail.)
