Как я год проработал на Arch Linux, сдался и вернулся на скучную Ubuntu для реальной работы

Весь мой путь в Linux начался в студенческие годы, в момент, когда я получил предложение о работе от своего преподавателя в универе. Оказалось, что помимо преподавательской работы он также трудился в IT-компании, которая на тот момент искала интернов. Собеседование заняло 10 минут, без единого вопроса про системы хранения или задачи с кодом. Мы просто поздоровались, технический директор Павел выдал мне доступы и объяснил суть: за полгода мне нужно пройти три модуля, по два месяца на каждый, удаленно с возможностью работать из офиса — путь от «понять, как устроено ядро» до «написать драйвер под реальное железо и собрать прошивку под FPGA». Я дважды стирал себе диск, ради стажировки купил трехкилограммовый ноутбук за $50, потом воевал с Arch ради одной проприетарной программы — и в итоге вернулся туда же, откуда начинал, на Ubuntu. Это не история моего поражения (как некоторым хотелось бы) , а притча об осознании. Осознании чего?

Ich komme auf Arch-Linux recht gut mit pacman und Kommandozeile zurecht.
Aber ich schaue mir Shelly sicher auch mal an. Und mit den kontinuierlichen Verbesserungen werden für ambitionierte Einsteiger:innen die Arch-basierten Distributionen (EndeavourOS, CachyOS, Manjaro) eine Empfehlung zum Ausprobieren.

pgAdmin4 - де-факто стандартный GUI для PostgreSQL. И при этом на Arch Linux его Desktop-версия годами находится в полурабочем состоянии. Я разобрался, почему pgAdmin4 так плохо ложится на Arch, какие подходы стабильно ломаются, и какой компромиссный, но реально рабочий вариант в итоге получился. Если вам тоже надоело чинить pgAdmin после каждого обновления Python или Electron - это для вас.

Zaczął siadać mi starszy z monitorów i musiałem coś z tym zrobić.
Zdecydowałem się na zmianę obu(przy okazji zmieniłem producenta z Philipsa na Iiyamę), na biurku wylądował UWQHD(z dokiem USB-C i kamerką) oraz WQHD, przy okazji zrezygnąwałem z ramienia na monitory.
Efektem nie do końca zamierzonym była redukcja ilości kabli na biurku o jakieś 80%...

Which is really nice! So now I'm closer at getting the right settings for music production.

I still have problems with controlling the Sample Rate, which makes it less smooth in the DAW. This seems to partly be Studio Ones fault (still beta).

Learning this did show me however, that if we want more musicmakers in the Linux environment, we need to make audio settings accessible.

Chi come me usa ancora un vecchio PC con scheda nVidia paleozoica sarà incappato probabilmente in una incompatibilità tra il driver versione 390 e gcc 15 e, di conseguenza, nell'impossibilità a compilare il driver per il kernel. Qui spiego come ho risolto in attesa della patch ufficiale.

I've been using #linux for almost a month now, and I have been really happy with it. I managed to botch the boot manager so I'm not even able to boot back into Windows, but so far haven't had any need to, as I can access the NTFS drive anyway.

I have #arch_linux and it's been treating me well, but I'm not sure if I want to switch the window manager from #gnome to something else. It works but there's some bugs and small annoyance, and it's still better than Windows.

Some apps (seems to be a bit random, console does that often but not always and #Godot just did now) crash when my PC comes out of suspend on my #arch_linux. Anyone know why this happens and if there's something I could do to fix it?

I'm using #gnome as the window manages and have a 32GB swapfile and 16GB RAM, if that matters.

This compromised VPS situation is really frustrating but I think I'm learning more of how to really use Linux and Administrate it.

; separates commands so you can delete multiple users at once. And clean several folders at once, and kill multiple processes at once.

I need to then preemptively stop all kworker processes from starting.

Which folders do I need cleaned and which processes do I need do I need stopped on launch.. systemd, and anything with systemd in the name, I need to re-init a basic bash file.

Is this where I actually learn bash hacking?

Just thinking here, It saves the whole thing to a CPU buffer which is then loaded the next time the CPU is turned on.. it stores files in tmp using a system service, it is not found by clam_av.. it uses compromised system files.. I guess I could rebuild, put it in rescue mode and try all the cleaning steps I've tried..
