Glory be, I went to the Colourmart site to check the details of the last order to put it into Ravelry, and managed not to buy anything while I was there. Having just put the previous order away and seen the size of the stash was a good incentive in this.

Oh dear. Made the mistake of looking at the March sales page on Colourmart. Now I need to trawl Ravelry for a pattern for 300 mg of Aran linen chainette in various colours.

I am not done with my other knitting project but I'm going on vacation and want to bring a new one for space saving reasons..I'll put the yarn I have in the first comment
I'm debating these two cardigans. The one in green is more difficult to make with the cables and buttons and is more fitted/tailored so will be fiddly and I may have to restart a few times but I like it. The other one is easier but also more shapeless (although I suppose I don't have to make it as baggy).
Any advice/feedback/opinions? #knitting #knitters #amknitting

Not sure if I have the patience to Navajo ply 1500 m of slightly uncooperative yarn, though. I might stick to the Huj Tub idea, although given that's probably going to involve magic loop I can foresee fun with that.

So I've tried the KnitPro Trendz acrylic points and they are doing a much better job of holding this laceweight yarn than the birch and metal points were. Almost too good. :-) I can see why people don't like them for grippier yarns, but they're fine for this one.

Yarn is "roughly a 1/14NM cashmere yarn, with a metallized plastic strand twisted in". I suppose I could try the Trendz 4.5 or 5.5 points I have to test it, and then buy 5.0 if necessary.

It's a lovely sunny day and I want to do some knitting while I can see fine yarn. I know what yarn I want to swatch as Navajo ply. Can I find it?
Maybe I shouldn't have bought So Much Colourmart. And it's not in that box. Off to try the other places it might be.

Why to knit a gauge swatch:
1) to check the gauge
2) to discover that trying to knit that yarn on those needles will drive you berserk within four rows.Abandon ship...
(Chunky on 5.5/6 mm. Yes, really. And still only have 10 stitches/10 cm when pattern says 12 on that size.)

I did indeed get home to 350 gm of cashmere, plus a couple of small cones. Alas, it is too late in the year for it to be still daylight when I get home, so taking photos of the pretties to put on Ravelry will have to wait until the weekend.

Got home to a parcel (hopefully) containing 1 kg of camel hair yarn. Tomorrow it will be joined by a 350g cone of cashmere. I foresee gauge swatches in my near future.

I already have Too Much Stash, but wondering what I could make with 1kg of fingering weight camelhair yarn or 300g of light fingering cashmere, currently at such stupidly low sale prices at my favourite enabler that either option would be about £50.

Charity shop loot: 5 unused and two part used balls of Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran in original 10 ball wrapper for £5. These are usually £6 each. Supposed to be decluttering, not adding, but it's a cheap way to find out if superwash merino irritates my sensitive skin. :-)

I have been tidying my room, or at least my stash. I suppose it's juuuuust possible I should knit some of it up before buying any more.

My mom sent me her entire yarn stash ... which is lovely.
But she carefully wound most of the skeins into balls; I've only found one with its label still intact. I can figure out the weights, but the fiber content, brand, colorway, etc., are going to be subject to a lot of guesswork.

An enabler pointed out that Third Vault Yarns is doing a dye run of the Glasgow Worldcon colourways, orders closing on Friday. So I have 100g of Skein Dubh in Selkie DK heading my way next week. I still have the Ytterbium colourway sitting in my stash, so I really need to start knitting some of my lovely, lovely yarn to make room for more...

Ich hab heute so viel gearbeitet, da musste ich zum Runterkommen noch ein bisschen stricken.

Maybe I should just see if I can find a 20 pack of wool needles...
That's two grey Pony ones and two violently coloured Zings that have disappeared from the tools tray in the last month.

I have completed the tenth row on the project I am using to learn magic loop. I even managed to count all the way to two all the way round on the last five of them.

I started learning to knit with magic loop last night. What I have learnt so far is that one should not try to learn a new technique at night when one's Spousal Unit has turned the dimmer on the lights way down, even if one has a reading lamp.
Fortunately I was using the cheap 400g ball of Aldi aran acrylic, and not something I would be sad to lose.

My nephews are massive fans of the Zelda games Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, so I thought it'd be fun to make them something related to that. Here's my first Triforce washcloths. It's knit using Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn. The pattern is by April Klich.

The problem with going looking for KnitPro compatible needles as a cheaper alternative is that you find the more expensive ones. The "ooh shiny! alternatives. Waaaaaant....https://knitproneedles.co.uk/shop/accessories/lantern-moon-swivel-cords/

Me: I make small projects so I can make something quickly that's not overly frustrating. Very good for my mental health.
Also me: *casts on 201 stitches in lace weight*

I'm finishing a jacket to match the little baby pants and Elizabeth Zimmerman's generalized directions may have scarred me for life.

Couldn't find a pattern I liked so I'm making this knit project up as I go.
As one does.

This time I got ten rows in before having to rip back and start again. Yes, I had a lifeline. No, I couldn't pick up on it, at least not on a circular needle of this circumference.
One last go. This this time I'll use a much thicker lifeline around 5 rows in in the hope it doesn't disappear into the stitch and twist around. So far I've had to tink on each of the first three rows, but at least I did so successfully.
-
I've given up on the first try at casting on 84 stitches on a 60 cm needle. It didn't stretch easily enough to make it feasible to knit the first row. Considering switching to 6 mm points for the cast on to get it a bit looser before switching back to 5 mm.
