So I’m partway through #AlexGarland and the #CivilWar cast’s #SXSW Q&A and it’s relevant that he invoked #AnatomyOfAFall during the presentation. I haven’t seen many reviews of #CivilWar from people I usually watch reviews from (like #KarstenRunquist), but I suspect that many people will have similar reactions to both films because they both are extremely grounded, hyper-realistic films that treat the audience like they’re adults.
One reviewer I’ve been watching lately, #Alteori, just put out a video calling it “so bad that it hurts”. A big part of me suspects that it’s because it’s not a cartoonish action movie with massive, coordinated battle sequences.
