A few hints about the Turing Test.
0: Turing was one of the greatest minds of the 20th century.
1. It's not about linguistic ability.
2. It's not about fooling a judge.
3. It's about empathy.
4. It's abour performance in a game that requires empathy.
5. Please: Read a bio of Turing _BEFORE_ you comment on said test and put your foot in your mouth.
6. Please: read the paper carefully and think about the above hints. -

Anti anti-AI rant. You've been warned.
In 1950, Alan Turing, one of the great minds of the 20th century, proposed a test to determine if a computer program could reasonably be seen as intelligent.
It's a pretty good first shot.
But. I've only once seen someone (Roger Schank) talk about the Turing Test in a way that even gets the facts/details of the test correct.
Everyone else (that I've seen) has it quite wrong. We need to do better.
Please. Read the paper and think.

If you know even the most basic neuroanatomy, you know that the idea of a "neural net" is one the most dead wrong ideas in human history (current AI is full of these).
But the hilarious thing is that pretty much every other week there's a new result from real neuroscientists showing that cortical neurons are even hairier than we thought.
Today it's this: (I wish they could have resisted saying "we used AI to". Sigh.)

(Article behind a paywall so steep even paying subscribers can't read it. (Really: the Boston Globe seem to have forgotten my account, and won't even let me try to log in. Human stupidity is also alive and well.))

Many don’t get it that equal rights does not have the same meaning as equal equity. On a fundamental level, the failure to recognise Intellectual Property IP and use it without attribution or permission contradicts equal rights. That is what Ai
(= artificial information, as cannot be Emotionally Intelligent being just an image and representation of programming), as in the automated processing of information does. The reason for it is the most insidious ever conceived; to eliminate equal rights to protect equal equity for class inequality. The ultra rich, believe they can keep their power and everyone is expendable! It is not hard to deduce that the opposite will be achieved; they will be the ones that suffer brain rot. #Ai #AiStupidity #UltraRichStupidity -
